If the girl child is 5 years old and investment in Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is started in 2024. And parents/guardians invest Rs. 50,000 per year for 15 years i.e. till 2039 –

Total Investment (till 2039): Rs. 7,50,000 (50000*15)

Interest Earned: Rs. 14,94,845

Maturity Amount (in 2045 i.e. after 21 years): Rs. 7,50,000 (Investment Amount) + Rs. 14,94,845 (Interest Earned) = INR 22,44,845 (Total Maturity Amount which is Tax Free)

Important Notes:

Remember to make the minimum deposit amount by 31st March in each financial year. If this is not done, SSY account will be deactivated. However, it can still be reopened but this comes to penalty of Rs. 50. Therefore, it is required to deposit the amount before 01Apr each year.
